The story so far...
Since leaving Riverside... Launceston Bank for Savings (1971-73) GTV9, Melbourne (1973-75) Canterbury Savings Bank, Nelson, NZ (1975-78) General Finance, Nelson, NZ (1978-81) Nelson City Council, Nelson, NZ (1981-87) Rotorua District Council, Rotorua, NZ (1987-present) Married to Christine (from Takaka, NZ) since 1976 - Christine is Service & Admin Manager/Assistant Manager at the local Woolworths supermarket. Steven is 22 and lives in Auckland, NZ (works in a bookshop, writes for music publications and is writing a novel, and plays in a band), and Tony is 20 and lives in Rotorua, NZ (works in IT section of Harvey Norman), and presented us with a grandson (Dryden) in mid-2002. I represented Tasmania twice as a junior in athletics (Melbourne '71 & Perth '72). Tried my hand at parachuting, gliding & flying while living in Melbourne. Studied part time at Nelson Polytech between 1982-89 for 3 certificates in accounting, business studies & management. Coached & umpired Rotorua junior hockey teams, plus managed junior representative hockey teams at local, provincial and national level. Was treasurer & president of local junior hockey board. Have completed 3 Fletcher Challenge (Rotorua) marathons ('89, '94, & '04), plus trained for one that was washed out in '89 (bugger!) Presented with a Police certificate for chasing and capturing an escaped suspect...sounds so much more dramatic than it really was. Recently promoted to a new position with Rotorua DC that involves analysis/revision of existing, and development of new, rates policies, technical advice to Council, management, and senior rates staff, working on database and property valuation projects, and representing Council on the Society of Local Government Managers Legal Compliance program in Wellington. Currently getting back into oil painting - my wife has commissioned a couple of still lifes for the kitchen. Hoping to get back to Tassie for a visit in Oct/Nov 2005.
